ALMACO was one of the main suppliers of the new Costa Toscana, recently delivered by Meyer Turku.
ALMACO’s extensive scope of work included the design, engineering, production, delivery and commissioning of all galley, pantry and bar counters and equipment on the vessel.
Costa Toscana’s next-generation catering system is equipped with ALMACO’s digital lifecycle solution.
Aleksandr Hokkanen, who was in charge of project site management for ALMACO, said: “This project has been one of the most exciting projects of my entire career. It was a pleasure to work with Meyer Turku and I am impressed with their professionalism. Thanks to the good cooperation between ALMACO, Meyer Turku and our local partners, we were able to commission the equipment on time despite the difficult logistical situation in the market. And I must say that the end result is fantastic.
The project was one of the largest restoration projects ever undertaken by ALMACO, not only because the scope covered over 3,000 square meters of kitchens, kitchen pantries, bar pantries, pantry cabin and saloon pantry, as well as more than 30,000 catering equipment, but also because ALMACO was responsible for many different aspects and phases of the project and the planning of operations and service, according to the business.
ALMACO performed all aspects of the design and engineering of the dining spaces, as well as the design and construction of all custom kitchen countertops and fixtures.
ALMACO took care of all the buyout and pantry equipment; and logistics were also handled by ALMACO, along with commissioning, maintenance planning and crew training on the equipment.
The lifecycle solution provided to Costa consists of a digital system for monitoring equipment, providing instruction manuals and managing maintenance during operation. The solution is based on service tablets and individual QR-code labels attached to the equipment. The kitchen equipment lifecycle solution supports the crew in their daily tasks and minimizes the risk of equipment failure.
