Mangoes arrive and are doing well in Spain

The production of tropical fruits in the countries around the Mediterranean is more varied than ever. Global warming is shifting the frontier for the cultivation of papayas, kiwis, passion fruits and other species that are moving north. Mango cultivation in Spain is booming and the popularity of the fruit with consumers continues to grow. Harvesting can be done at the right maturity, as transport time is no longer a problem. The sales market is just around the corner.

Convenience fruits, cubed mango pieces, are also becoming more and more popular.
Hans Keijzer, director of intelligent machines ZTI, predicts that mango processing will also take off in Spain as well as other countries in southern Europe. “The fruit section of all supermarkets in Europe is increasingly sophisticated. Trays with ready-to-eat mango bites are in demand. And not just in retail. In addition, restaurants, catering and hotels are major buyers of diced fruit.

Peeling and stoning mangoes requires skill ZTI is a manufacturer of fruit and vegetable processing machinery. They specialize in the red fruit department. For example, kiwi, melon and mango. Their new mango peeler is getting a lot of attention around the world, due to the machine’s inventive new way of working. The mangoes are transported on a spout through the Mango Peeler-de-Cheeker machine. At the same time, they are peeled and pitted lengthwise. During processing, the mango is laid on the stone. This keeps the tender fruit intact and thus extends the shelf life.

Longer shelf life, more yield and a good return on investment
Keijzer: “The product stays fresher longer on the shelves in stores and in the consumer’s refrigerator. The machine also gives you the best possible performance. It is adjustable to process small and large mangoes by changing the peeling knives. These so called “thin peelers” ensure that there is no wasted fruit. Just like the arcuate knives, which remove the stone from the fruit. A pitting method that also optimizes yield. And there are other specific functions in this machine that make it unique. I’m happy to tell you all about it “

The Mango Peeler-de-Cheeker 20 peels and pits 20 mangoes per minute
“We are delighted to see the machine in service with a number of customers. The demand is overwhelming and we have several machines in order. They are currently assembled for delivery to our customers in the United States, South America and Europe. The Mango Peeler-de-Cheeker 20 is developed based on our experiences over the past five years with the Mango Peeler-de-Cheeker40 and, most importantly, feedback from our customers. This makes the new relative machine a reliable and proven piece of equipment. says Hans Keijzer.
