Plum Market Will Reopen Downtown Market: Here’s What’s Changed

Plum Market announced that its downtown Detroit location will reopen at 10 a.m. Thursday.

The market, located at the corner of Woodward and Larned on the first floor of the Ally Detroit Center, has been closed for nearly two years due to the pandemic and an overall reduction in the downtown workforce.

Indoors, the market expects, for now, to focus on chef-created breakfasts and lunches. There will be self-service food bars with seasonal salads, soups and dishes made with all-natural meats and plant-based proteins, according to a press release. The store was designed to be fast and casual with quick service options. Sandwiches, parfaits and fresh cut vegetables are also available to take away.

There will be beverages including packaged wine and beer, snacks, chips, flowers, specialty chocolates and essentials. The market has been scaled back since it opened in July 2019, the plan is to scale back as more workers return to downtown, according to Plum Market.

While the market’s full-service chef stations don’t happen, a take-out catering menu is available and designed for meetings, lunches, and events.

One of the biggest changes to the downtown location is that it will be cashless.

“This location has recently been revamped to focus on faster service and will reopen as a fully cashless store with convenient self-checkout machines accepting credit cards and mobile payment,” according to a press release.

Plum Market is based in Michigan and this highly anticipated store opened in July 2019. The market was billed as a place where downtown residents and workers could stop for lunch or coffee breaks, take or order a take-home dinner and offer a select mix. groceries.

Plum Market is known as a premium grocer specializing in all-natural, organic, and local produce. The Michigan-based grocer has full-service grocery stores, smaller format stores and other food operations in Michigan, Indiana, Ohio and Texas.
