Texas First Bank opens new branch in Beaumont in January

Texas First Bank’s newest location, under construction for most of this year, will be open by the end of next month.

The company announced plans to open the new full-service banking center in Beaumont in January of next year at 6363 Phelan Blvd., just east of Dowlen Road.

It is the 27th banking center of the Texas First Bank family network.

The Beaumont team includes Center Manager Michelle Bowen, transferred from Winnie’s location, Regional Loans President John Morrell, Lender Chris Kovatch, and Lender James Wright.

The bank’s construction coincided with renovations to the Colonnade Shopping Plaza properties on both sides of Phelan Boulevard for most of 2021.

The shopping center was acquired by Albanese Cormier and renamed Westmont Shopping Center.

Ko Korean Grill is taking the show to the road with a new food truck that is already touring Beaumont events.

The Korean barbecue restaurant that opened in a new mall behind Kohl’s on Dowlen Road in Beaumont this spring announced earlier this month that it has acquired a food truck.

Ko fans can try it out on Wednesday as part of a two-day pop-up event with the town of Beaumont, which is flipping its Lunch at the Lake event to promote local businesses.

From 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., the truck will serve up some of Ko’s favorites and new quick bites, but management suggests showing up early to get a plate.

Ko’s “mobile unit” will also be available to host private events and catering concerts.

Taylor Farm of Kirbyville will make a special donation to the Southeast Texas Food Bank on December 18, the last market day of 2021.

William and Evelyn Taylor, owners of Taylor Farm, will be collecting donations until the morning of December 18 to benefit the Southeast Texas Food Bank.

This holiday tradition is a way for Taylor Farm, and others at the Beaumont Farmer’s Market, to give back to those in need, according to the family. The Taylors will also donate all proceeds from the sale of the commodities to the bank.

The Southeast Texas Food Bank will also have set up a market table to answer questions and provide information to the community. Donations will be returned to the food bank when the market closes at 10:50 a.m. on Saturday. The community is invited to stop by, donate to the food bank, and purchase locally grown produce, locally raised meat products, and other locally made items.

The Beaumont Farmer’s Market was founded in 2010 and has been run entirely by volunteers for the past ten years.
